Geometry Tutoring That Makes the Proofs Click
Geometry is very different from the other upper-level math courses. Students learn to look at a two-dimensional object and visualize what it looks like in three dimensions, and they meet proofs, which are one of the most difficult tasks in the course.
I tutor Geometry one-on-one over Zoom for students in Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond, Sammamish, and across the Eastside.
How I Teach Geometry
One of the most difficult tasks in geometry is writing proofs. For example, students provide statements and reasons to prove that two triangles are congruent. For these problems I ask my students to think like a lawyer: observe the facts and provide statements (evidence), each individually supported by a reason, to come to the final conclusion.
Who This Is For
Students in Geometry, standard or honors, who are solid on computation but stuck on proofs, or who need the spatial reasoning to click before moving on to Algebra 2.
What a Session Looks Like
Every session starts with a quick check-in on what is due, then we work real proofs and problems together over Zoom. I send parents summary emails so you always know what we covered and what comes next.
What Geometry Covers
Side lengths, area, volume, and angle measures of triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, and circles
Visualizing two-dimensional objects in three dimensions
Real-world applications for describing and measuring spaces
Writing proofs with statements and reasons
What Parents and Students Say
“Now when I review my geometry learning targets before a quiz, instead of memorizing them, I try to visualize them in different ways. It’s given me a much better understanding of geometry and it works with my other subjects too!”
— Jordan B, Sammamish, WA
“My daughter Diana decided to take both geometry and algebra 2 in 9th grade, and it was overwhelming. We were so fortunate to find Marga to work with her over the summer! She was wonderful in every aspect. She covered material from both classes, reviewed tests from previous years with Diana, and made sure she understood every concept. On top of this, Marga always kept a positive attitude that boosted by daughter’s confidence. With her help Diana had an A all year in both geometry and algebra 2. Thank you Marga!”

Common Questions About Geometry Tutoring
My student is taking Geometry and Algebra 2 in the same year. Can you help with both?
1
Yes. I have worked with students taking both in the same year, and sessions can cover material from both classes. See my Algebra 2 tutoring page.
My student is strong in Algebra. Will Geometry be just as easy?
2
Not necessarily. I have tutored two sisters from the same family. One was excellent in Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus, and her grade dropped in Geometry. The other got A’s in Geometry and struggled with Algebra. Doing well in one course does not guarantee the other.
