Pre-Calculus Tutoring That Bridges Algebra and Calculus

Pre-Calculus is aptly named: its purpose is to prepare a student for Calculus. Your school may have other names for it, such as precalculus/trigonometry, math analysis, honors precalculus, or AP Precalculus.

I tutor Pre-Calculus one-on-one over Zoom for students in Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond, Sammamish, and across the Eastside.

How I Teach Pre-Calculus

Pre-Calculus expands on concepts like functions and trigonometry, but also adds new ones, like conic sections, matrices, and vectors. Most Pre-Calculus courses end with a unit on limits and continuity, which is the first unit in any Calculus course.

Who This Is For

Students currently in Pre-Calculus, in any version of the course, and students heading into Calculus or an AP Calculus track.

What a Session Looks Like

Every session starts with a quick check-in on what is confusing, then we work real problems together over Zoom. I send parents summary emails so you always know what we covered and what comes next.

What Pre-Calculus Covers

  • Functions

  • Trigonometry

  • Conic sections

  • Matrices

  • Vectors

  • An introduction to limits and continuity

What Students Say

“I did tutoring with Marga in the summer of 2019. I did it in the summer because I had a hard time the previous school year in algebra 2, and thought it would be a good idea to have a solid grasp of the concepts before heading into pre-calculus the following term. Marga tutored me weekly and gave me practice problems to do on my own in between sessions... The first couple weeks were purely review of algebra 2 and I breezed through them. I ended up helping the other students out during that week because of my clear understanding of the concepts from algebra 2.”

— Emilia I, Sammamish, WA

“Miss Marga helped me through three years of high school math (both algebra 2 and geometry in 9th grade, pre-calculus in 10th grade, and calculus in 11th grade). She's an outstanding teacher who was always there for me. She's an open person who I could talk to, and could always calm me down when I was panicking about a calculus test. All As for me in each of these math classes thanks to the awesome Miss Marga's help and guidance.”

Common Questions About Pre-Calculus Tutoring

Should my student take Pre-Calculus over the summer through an online course?

1

I would not recommend it. In my experience, students who have chosen to do this struggle in Calculus and feel lost very early in the school year.
