Algebra 1 Tutoring That Meets Your Student Where They Are

How students do in Algebra 1 has a big impact on their math confidence in high school. It is the foundational upper-level math course.

I tutor Algebra 1 one-on-one over Zoom for students in Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond, Sammamish, and across the Eastside.

How I Teach Algebra 1

I make sure my students can "speak the language" of math for every math course, but especially for Algebra 1. I want them to be able to clearly explain concepts like the domain and range of a function, what an asymptote is, or what an exponential function is. I also want to make sure they use precise vocabulary to describe an operation. They should say "six minus four is two" rather than "six take away four is two." The more confident they feel in verbalizing math terms, the more likely they are to be engaged and ask questions in class.

Who This Is For

Algebra 1 help for high schoolers, plus 8th graders taking it early, in standard, honors, or repeated courses. It fits whether the goal is passing the next quiz or rebuilding confidence after a rough first unit.

What a Session Looks Like

Every session starts with a quick check-in on what is confusing that week, then we work real homework problems together over Zoom. I send parents summary emails so you always know what we covered and what comes next.

What Algebra 1 Covers

  • Word problems

  • Systems of equations and inequalities

  • Linear functions

  • Absolute value functions

  • Exponential functions

  • Quadratic functions

Sessions are paced against what Eastside-area schools, including the Lake Washington School District and comparable districts, are teaching that week.

What Students Say

“Ms. Marga has helped me build my confidence in math. She is kind and patient, and helped me get my math grade up from a D to a B. After every session with her I felt confident and prepared. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to build their math foundation for the next school year!”

— Sophie L, Kirkland, WA

“I've never seen my math grade as good as it's been when working with Marga. She understands my needs and how to get the concept across better than any teacher or tutor I've ever had.”

— Conner, Kirkland
